How Depression Causes Drug Addiction

Human beings get depressed often without other people noticing. In most cases, one would expect to see a person crying, throwing away things or acing abnormally. However, most depressed people will wave at you with a big smile. Depression can be brought about by divorce, relationship failure, death of a close person, child abuse and molestation, job loss or homelessness.

The highs and the lows of life are normal life experiences but for some people, they suck the life out of them. The lack of a proper support system ruins everything. In a society where everyone can is expected to do better than the friends, things get hard for other and they loose their step.

In the end, to mask the pain, one uses drugs to try and eclipse the feelings of loss, loneliness and defeat. Others rarely manage prolonged abuse and result in committing suicide or being mentally unstable for a long time.

Substance abuse worsens depression. Once you get addicted, mental health issues also exacerbate.

Depression and addiction cause an Individual to abandon all social activities and refuse to acknowledge all problems. One chooses to ignore issues such as continuous sexual abuse and molestation. Others tend to isolate themselves from society or family. They also experience personal issues in their relationships with family. At this point, addiction to substance starts and degenerate the whole system.
